Flouroquinolones: levaquin, Cipro (these should be last resort due to potential for serious side effects, has FDA black box warnings).
In fact it should not even be a resort at all.
Quinolones could be a dead sentence even worst than Lyme itself. Yes it does not affect all people, only 10% they say..., but should we risk to "Guess" if it will happen or not? Imagine your doctor saying "this is a gun, it stores total 10 bullets, but only "10%" of your gun has ammo, i mean 1 bullet out of 10. For you to kill that infection, you must trigger the gun in your head 1 time and your infection will be cured, just a warning... you could risk trigger the bullet..., the gun has only one bullet and i dont know in what position.., but dont worry only 10% of chances for you to trigger the bullet"
This is not an exageration people have died from floxed complications heart cns you named it.. spread the word...

I think it should be up to the patient - as long as they are aware of the black box warnings.
My friend had a uti and the antibiotic prescribed didn’t touch if.
She was offered one of the fluoroquinolones - I informed her of the risks and she chose to take it.
Her uti cleared quickly and she didn’t get floxed.
I know people with bart who have taken the Cipro or levaquin and healed - no floxing.
I was offered it and decided not to take it...
There are risks with other abx as well.
(Long qt with the macrolides for one example)
