I am waiting to see a lyme doctor in April for my 15 year old daughter who has babesia, bartonella, ricketsica akari and some other infections. Her worst sympton is severe lightheadedness. I went to a herbalist and she has put my daughter on japanese knotwood and some detox tablets for the liver. The lightheadedness is now worse (probably herx?) and she has some numbness on her ears, face and legs. Has anyone had this reaction to knotwood and how long does this last. Daughter on it for 10 days. Herbalist has said to come off it for 4 days as its probably too much for her body to take at the moment. Any advice please? Thanks.

Does the lightheadedness happen more when she is standing and upright, or does it happen equally often when she is reclining or lying flat? Is there also an increase in heart rate? Especially for someone her age, POTS should be looked into as a possibility. Herxing can aggravate POTS, too. There are therapies that mitigate it, if that's what is going on for her.
