Occular migraine help

Has anyone ever resolved reoccurring occular migraines? If so how? Any advice or info on this is really appreciated.

Mine are the wavy / blurry vision and can't see out of eye/ half of face is black when looking in mirror. Have to pull over. I'm worried about further deterioration in my sight.

Not sure if typical migraine triggers are the same for this sort. I was thinking it was from the infections.

If I eat something high in sodium my occular migraines go away quickly.

It's important to remember that "migraine" is a description of symptoms, not a disease with a specific cause and cure. What triggers migraines for one person can be completely different from what triggers them in someone else.

This analogy is odd, but many find it helpful: Most people don't have a single migraine trigger, but rather many of them that can add up and cause a migraine. Imagine that each trigger is a helium balloon, each one getting tied to a basket. The basket is your body's capacity to handle triggers, and when it lifts off the ground, that's when it reaches its limit and you get a migraine. Maybe poor sleep is one balloon, wine is another balloon, stress is another balloon, strong fragrance is another balloon. Any one of those will not lift the basket off the ground, but all four together will. That's why people might be able to handle (for example) wine sometimes but get a migraine from it at other times, as the bioterrain and load of bodily stressors are always changing.

For those of us with Lyme, it's often a little different and harder to manage in the sense that our triggers can be involuntary and internal, so we can't always observe them. I say this because general migraine advice might not be very helpful for you. Additionally, infections known to mess with nerves like Bartonella and Borrelia can prime nerves to be overly-reactive, so there's damage to be undone in addition to symptom management. I bet you're right that the A-Bart might give you more of these, at least as you ramp up treatment with it.

One of my first Lyme symptoms was migraines. I didn't realize at the time that migraines were caused by something. I didn't dig deeper because doctor after doctor diagnosed me with migraines as though that was the end of the investigation. To me, "migraine" is a dismissive term for massive headaches that involve disabling symptoms in multiple systems of the body, fatigue, no appetite, and extreme sensory sensitivity and dysfunction. For me, those symptoms all occurred in three-day episodes about once per month, more often in the fall and winter. Little did I know, that was Lyme, and eventually it wasn't just episodes anymore! I wish a doctor had diagnosed me with "neurological garbage syndrome" and suggested we look for what was aggravating my nervous system!

All of that said, I was able to reduce the frequency and severity of the headaches themselves through magnesium and B2 supplementation, ashwagandha, and acupuncture. Honestly the magnesium and B2 were the biggest help. Now I only have migraines when there's a major barometric pressure drop, and I seem to be able to manage those somewhat with magnesium, B2, craniosacral therapy, essential oils (frankincense and peppermint), and adequate salt and hydration to maintain my blood volume and blood pressure. And as is to be expected, they happen more often when my overall condition is poor.

So! I said all of the above as a preamble to asking for more information about your ocular migraines. Some people use that term to describe only ocular symptoms (no headache or any other symptoms); do yours coincide with other symptoms - pain, fatigue, nausea, disequilibrium? Have you had a full ophthalmological evaluation? Are there triggers other than antimicrobial treatment that you have noticed? Do you notice a difference with active detoxification methods?

Bartonella has messed with my eyes, too, causing permanent vision loss through central serous chorioretinopathy (retinal swelling). It flares with other symptoms of Bartonella, and it's really freaky and limiting when it worsens. I understand the special misery of vision symptoms!
