Sinus Sensations

Hi, folks.

The past couple of days, there's been discomfort in a particular spot in my sinuses. I have a very dry house and a history of mold exposure, but no history of sinus symptoms and no recent respiratory viruses. In the spot where you usually feel a tickle before sneezing, I feel pain and irritation. It's worse if I sniff or press on it from the outside. No congestion, no breathing issues.

I just used a nasal spray that contains xylitol and saline, which I already had in a drawer. Any other suggestions? I'll probably use the neti pot later but don't want to deal with boiling the water yet.

Also, I know a lot of people test positive for MARCoNS, but does anyone have symptoms? What are they like?

Is this a Lyme or co-infections thing for anyone?

Thanks for any feedback. This sensation is unpleasant and distracting, and I am so very weary of new symptoms....

My child had months of MRSA skin infections, and we were told to treat the whole family's nasal passages with antibiotic ointment, since MRSA lives in the noses of something like 2% of people. Lately the air in my house has been very dry, and I'm worried that perhaps I'm a MRSA carrier who now has a boil in my nose due to the nasal tissues being compromised by dryness. I hope this is just my over-reacting, catastrophizing, Lyme disease-warped brain entertaining far-fetched ideas.

I'm sure I can get a MARCoNS swab, but not until next month at my next LLMD appointment. :-/

I did not do the antibacterial treatment as instructed by my child's doctor because my system was very unstable at the time and I didn't want to risk herxing or other reactions. Also, honestly I fail to understand how a little ointment in the outer area of a nostril could eliminate MRSA in the entire sinus area. Seems like a nasal irrigation approach or nebulizer approach would make more sense. So I inhaled clove and oregano essential oils, which definitely brought on some symptoms.

The MRSA skin infections started about a year and a half ago, in our old house. No idea how she got them, as there was no open skin involved that we knew of, and she doesn't do anything in locker rooms or hospitals or other common locations of transmission. The boils kept recurring because they were on her undercarriage, a location that's very hard to keep clean and dry. We saw several doctors to monitor them and a MRSA specialist, and they all seemed pretty calm about it, and said MRSA skin infections usually take months to go away. We did all the weird awful stuff they recommended, as well as all of the natural stuff. It nearly killed me with all the cleaning, dressing, compresses, baths, etc. every time she used the restroom! I don't want to jinx anything, but she's had no more issues since early last spring.

We moved into our current house in October. Nothing strange and new comes to mind except for this sinus thing. The humidity is troublingly low - around 25%, so low enough to damage wood furniture - because of our mold paranoia and an industrial dehumidifier. So the dry air probably is a factor.

Probably not what you want to hear, but there can be parasites in your nose.

K07, I’ve seen pictures in one of my Facebook groups of people expelling what appears to be rope worms. I don’t think I personally have them, but it appears to be possible. When they expel them they just do your normal parasite cleanses. Anything that kills parasites can kill them I think.

I know. It’s wild! I hope I never see something like that coming out of my nose! Go join the Bottoms Up Facebook group and do a search for nose. You might not want to see the pictures. Lol.

Hmmm, a ropeworm seems quite big to be in sinus. I’ve had ent look inside twice (with camera). I’ve also flushed my nose and never found a thing. I’d think if I did have a parasite it would be relatively small like a threadworm. Or even dwarf tapeworm.

The bigger question is that this does not seem like a common problem among the general population. So I would think addressing why they are able to flourish would be beneficial in eradicating. I’ve always felt there is a strong relationship between mold & parasites. I had the worst facial pain and pressure that I’ve never experienced before at our moldy lakehouse. I also felt some kind of crazy electrical restless feeling when there was a bad lightning storm there. It sounds crazy but I felt like my body was not my own. So maybe the parasites are able to flourish because of the mold (or possibly metals too). Like they are even helping by consuming it? I don’t know but feel like something is there. Maybe it’s as simple as compromising part of the immune system responsible for taking out parasites.

I think besides the obvious (mold weakening the immune system), there is another link between mold and Lyme that hasn't been uncovered yet.
My money and guess is what k07 just said about the parasites, or even the bacteria, consuming it.

- LOL!!!! I laughed so hard when I read this. I’m so glad I have you all to talk about this kind of stuff with. The conversations we have here keep life fun and interesting, LOL.

I agree with what others said about there being some kind of connection between the different pathogens beyond just the idea that one or another suppress the immune system allowing the others to come in or to cause problems if they’re already there.

Mold, parasites, yeast, bacteria, viruses. They are all living organisms and respond to changes in their environment, both external and internal. Changes in temperature, barometric pressure, chemicals, etc in the atmosphere we live in along with changes inside our bodies which could be related to fever, acute and chronic infections, any form of treatment can all affect organisms living inside our bodies.

I know that molds in water damaged buildings compete with other mold species and bacteria and viruses for food and territory. Molds release mycotoxins in response to threats. I think threats from other species or pathogens perceived in the external environment increase activity and toxin production by pathogens living inside our bodies.

I also believe this sort of thing will only get worse and begin to affect more and more people as our environment continues to rapidly change (5G, environmental chemicals including what may be occurring with recycled materials that hasn’t even been identified yet, natural disasters, widespread fires, etc.

As a side note, we had a mold dog come to do pre and post inspection related to remediation. Both times, the dog jumped towards me (not threateningly). The owner said he was friendly and likes people. I didn’t notice the dog doing that with the remediator who was present but did it several times with me. Afterward, the thought crossed my mind that the dog may have detected internal mold and mycotoxins in my body. I may send him a text and ask about that.
