Hi all,
I'm currently treating for mold and MCAS and although it is early, I'm feeling discouraged by my lack of progress/exacerbation of symptoms. For almost 2 weeks I've been on:
GI detox+ binder 1x/day
Vitamin D3 with K2 drops 5000 mg
CoQ10 300mg 1x/day
1/2 grain Nature-Throid 1x/day
IV replenish treatment with B vitamins, Vitamin C, magnesium 1x/week
Sauna 3ish times/week, epsom salt baths 3-4x/week
I've also been taking these medications for quite a while:
Claritin 10mg 2x/day
Pepcid 40mg 1x/day
Collagen powder 1x/day
Fish oil 1200mg 1x/day
Women's Multivitamin
Estrogen bio-identical patch
Progesterone bio-identical oral meds
Melatonin 3mg for sleep
I am also on a paleo, low sugar diet with occasional intermittent fasting. I go to acupuncture and see a therapist once a week.
I've had persistent vertigo since the beginning of January, and I'm experiencing internal vibrations and buzzing sensations, which I know a lot of people here experience (and it's something I've had for a while). I'm trying to power through knowing that I'm on a treatment protocol, but it's tough to feel optimistic when my symptoms are so intense. My doctor said I should start to see progress in the first month of treatment and I'm worried that I could be regressing.
I moved out of the suspected moldy environment about
a month ago. My work was tested last week and I'm waiting on those results.
Is there anything else I should be adding to combat the mold treatment? Or just be patient (the hardest thing to do when you've already been sick for so long...)?

It will take time - longer than you wish. Have you felt worse since treating or just no improvement?

I felt worse, then felt slightly better, then had a couple bad days again. I have symptoms every day - some days are okay, and some are unbearable. It does seem like the internal vibrations have flared up after being more subtle for a bit.
I've also been going to balance therapy for the vertigo which can exacerbate my symptoms. It's hard to pinpoint cause and effect when I'm at my worst.

How does sauna affect your symptoms? I never was able to try it.
Did your doctor mention glutathione, NAC, or IV phosphotydilcholine? These are often used in mold treatment.

I enjoy the sauna - not sure if it alleviates my specific symptoms, but I feel generally better afterward. Also good for meditation and mental health.
My doc doesn't think I can handle glutathione yet, although it is offered at his practice. Haven't heard of the other two - would you recommend?

Glutathione is usually very depleted in mold patients and is necessary for detox from my understanding. Sounds like your doctor doesn’t think you’re ready for IV glutathione. I never did IV. My doctor offered it, but I refused (thank God). It probably would have nearly killed me. I take Readisorb liposomal glutathione.
NAC is a precursor to glutathione and alpha lipoic acid helps production, too. ALA is reportedly better at it, but can cause detrimental mercury redistribution in people with mercury toxicity or amalgams.
I take oral phosphotydilcholine. I can’t tell it does anything. You’re supposed to do the IV’s for a while first then shift to oral for maintenance. I haven’t done the IV’s due to cost.

Have you thought about
trying Shoemakers mold protocol? I think Neil Nathan has a book on it. My doctor goes by this mold protocol and it seems to work for a lot of people. I’m on welchol, activated charcoal, GI detox, chlorella and bartonite clay.... I believe my doctor put me on these as part of the Shoemaker protocol
