I don't think high amonia levels would affect your lungs, or that amonia could "build up" in your chest, but I can't this for sure. Amonia is a neurotoxin, so it makes me think brain fog, irritability, sleep disturbance, maybe headaches...
I'm curious, as Girlie noted, as to why your doc would just assume you have high amonia and have you take supps rather than test for it first. Maybe he/she is anticipating elevated amonia with newly increased die-off? It's crazy how many things most of us are already taking, though. Does he/she order labs routinely otherwise?
FWIW I took l-orinthine for a while before switching to LOLA and I noticed zero benefits from either. Didn't test ammonia levels however, because I wasn't working with a doctor at the time.
