Question for BVT (Bee Venom Therpay) people

had u been doing bvt prior? did it sting upon a extremity? stinger can break but body usually pushes em out in few days . one of my first sting wasnon my shin it got almost golf ball size throbbed and itched for a few days . venom has a mast cell degranulating peptide . most persons with lyme have over active mast cells due to excess inflammation. it takes a few months of stinging to not get the insane itch .it take a slow build for the body to get used to venom constituents. the reaction time is a measure of the immune system response .("ie fast reaction - normal, slow - under active suppressed and too fast - over active autoimmune) aloe and bentonite pack may help provide relief . we use b+h homeopathic creme during beginning itch phase

bluelyme: that is a really interesting explanation about how the immune system modulates it's response to the bee stings over time. Personally I've noticed that since I've had my troubles with Lyme and co., my reaction to (unintentional) bee stings are much worse than before and the swelling lasts for days.

What you said makes me wonder about our reactions to herbs and other treatments and what I always thought was kinda an overemphasis on "herx" reactions. When people say "herx" the assumption is that they are killing things, which is considered a good thing, and this thought process guides long courses of treatment for many.

I wonder how often what's being experienced is simply the immune system acclimating to newly introduced chemicals -without any killing, as you said in the case with bee stings the body can "get used to venom constituents"...

so only like 1% of the population is truly allergic. some have a herx or big swelling and just say their allergic as its a quik explaination. one is only allergic if swelling is body wide , usually happens in the first 15 minutes and epinephrine is required to keep the throat from actually closing . so if that did not happen you're not allergic and probably wont be. anecdotally, the maker of venex had been stung for over 60 years . they found him in his fields - he cant take anymore stings but its not quite a allergic reaction...when my histamine "bucket" was full from gut dysbiosis i got a port installed with anesthesia . i was a mess wanted to rip skin off but bentonite baths save the day lowered the burden. vit c internally, ice and aloe for the site may help
