Lightlife,
I posted on your other threads but wanted to address the title of this post - mold vs infections.
IMO, exposure to water damaged buildings and mold should be considered a threat to anyone with Lyme or chronic illness due to the immune suppressing and organ damaging effects of the toxins found in these buildings.
In order to tease out mold vs infections, there are several ways to do this. These are the 3 tests needed. You can do all or pick one or two.
1. HLA-DR genetic test (blood test for genetic susceptibility to mold, Lyme, and more; may be covered by insurance)
2. Mycotoxin urine test (Realtime Labs ir Great Plains; Tricare and Medicaire may cover Realtime; unsure of insurance coverage on Great Plains). Reveals if you have elevated levels of mycotoxins from toxigenic mold exposure most often related to water damaged buildings.
3. ERMI test - PCR analysis of dust samples collected to determine the overall moldiness of the environment tested.
