I took cromolyn sodium (oral liquid) four times per day - a half-hour before each meal and before bedtime - 100mg each time. I was prescribed 200mg four times per day, which seems to be standard, but I never tried the full dose.
The first two weeks, it gave me some mild symptoms of MCAS, but it reduced some intestinal swelling that was plaguing me, so I kept taking it. I weaned off of it after about
eight weeks. Honestly I didn't notice any other effects regarding MCAS, but then I did not expose myself to triggers to test it, either. I did have anesthesia while taking the cromolyn, and normally I think anesthesia would have caused more of a negative reaction in me afterward than it did. Maybe one day I will take cromolyn again and drink a kombucha, just to see if I react.
No experience with ketotifen. A low-histamine diet, curcumin, and quercetin help the most with my MCAS, but of course everyone is different.
