Blakeley has what seems to be a bullseye rash with the center being a definite bite. It’s been red and itchy for a few days and I really didn’t think anything of it until tonight. I was thinking at first she must’ve gotten mosquito bite or something. Although my husband said when it first came up that it looked like a tick bite. But as the days have gone by, the circle around it has remained.
I wouldn’t think we could’ve missed a tick on her in that particular
location! And I’m not certain what the rash should look like but could she develop this due to treatment and it just come out now? If so, does that mean that’s where she originally got bit? Also, would the center actually have a bite looking spot currently and be itchy?
I did take photos a few days ago and today but do not know how to link or post here.
Any ideas about
this? Thank you

If she has a bite plus a bullseye rash around it - I’d say it’s a tick bite.
She’s on abx right? That should take care of a new infection.
The ticks can be very tiny - you may have not seen it.
To upload pics - you need a site like Photobucket - you load the pic on there and paste a link here.

Rashes can come out later, but if there’s a bite mark, then I think it would have to be a new bite. Tell the doctor.

One photo is five days ago I believe and one is yesterday.
Showed doctor today and she feels it is a bullseye rash. Not sure if a distinct “bite” in middle or if just red. Doesn’t seem an
opening in the skin as much as a slight swollen red spot. I am so hoping it’s not new.
Blakeley came off antibiotics around December due mostly to GI issues and just needed a break. She is on homeopathic treatment and some herbs.
Waiting for advice from doctor.

I get red rings around lots of bites. Mosquito, flea, etc. My kid does, too. Not really sure what that means.
Does Blakeley still not go outside much? And her dog doesn't go outside, either? The arm is not the most common place for a tick to scoot to.
I'm not saying that I think it's NOT a tick bite, and I would take Buhner's astragalus recommendation for recent tick bites, as well as homeopathic ledum palustre.

Was she wearing long sleeves? If not it would be hard to miss a tick there even a small one. My daughter gets some nasty looking bug bites that look tickish but they are often in
locations where it would be near impossible to not see them.

I’m thinking we would’ve seen a tick unless it bit and then dropped off, which is not my understanding of their typical behavior.
The LLMD said today based on pics, it looks like a bullseye rash. Also took her to naturopath we’ve been using. She ruled out spider (Brown recluse/black widow) bite, although there are two streaks coming from it stopping at around where her elbow is. She said by day 4 or 5 (today) it would’ve shown more damage in the center and be painful.
She had multiple ideas...that possibly it was a mosquito bite carrying lyme. Or that since she already is dealing with lyme, the insect bite stirred the immune system to that area. I really don’t know. She felt like a tick would’ve been attached.
Blakeley does not go outside much and her dog goes out very limited but gets a bath right after. Not to say that we couldn’t have missed something.
Also this afternoon it whitened up and looked almost normal. But by tonight, it’s red again. Going and coming. She took activated charcoal and naturopath also gave me some kind of salve to put on it. Not sure what to do. She’s already on Lyme treatment...

If she’s on lyme abx - then she should be covered.

She is not currently on abx. Could not tolerate anymore around end of November 2019.
She is on homeopathics and some herbs. Plan to start more herbs as soon as she gets to a decent spot again.
I am studying on Traveler’s chronic tonic and would like to try it.
I would like for her to just take the abx if necessary but her GI issues are so bad right now, I just don’t know if she could take it.
How do IV abx work and should we consider that?

IV abx are often prescribed when someone has gi issues and can’t tolerate the orals.
I believe a nurse comes to the home to administer / Unless you’re close to a clinic that offers them.
In the meantime - maybe astragalus Would be an option - Buhner mentions it for acute lyme infections ... but (if I’m remembering correctly he doesn’t recommend it for chronic)
So not sure since she does have a chronic infection.

Here’s what Buhner said several years ago about
astragalus and chronic Lyme:
“ If you are not currently sick, you can certainly take astragalus. The reason for not recommending it is that astragalus raises the parts of the immune system that are overactivated in chronic lyme. Those parts of the immune system are highly effective against lyme early on and help prevent or reduce the disease but if they are low to begin with and you are infected the infection can spread more easily. After awhile the immune system does ratchet up those parts to attack the lyme bacteria but by then the spirochete has altered itself and is no longer very affected by them, those parts of the immune system then begin to cause some of the lyme symptoms people have making the disease a kind of autoimmune problem. My book Healing Lyme goes into this in a great amount of detail.”
