Rifampin Safety

Is this medication generally safe for people to take? Google has scared me a bit lol

I found Rifampin wasn’t hard to tolerate.


What in particular did you read about it on the internet re: safety?

safe how? ... when combined with another abx it is effective against bartonella. full dose and strength is recommended to prevent resistance. it does burn cortisol and cp450 2x as fast

Is there anything I need to do in regard to the cortisol/cp450?

i had to double up on adrenal supps and even got a script for inhaled glutathione to help liver . i only tolerated 3 months with iv zith even pulsing at the end .:. your urine will discolor and fatigue is heavy but its an old drug great for gram neg . they say not to do milk thistle or the like because it shelters the bart hiding inside the liver . afterward plus much zhang bart tx i could drink coffee without the jitters which dr k uses as a measurement of liver health....there is a newer one with longer halflife rifabutin that dr j uses?

The longer half life med that bluelyme referred to is Rifabutin.

Now I have found that one more difficult to tolerate - but likely it’s because it’s hitting bart harder and I’m herxing more.
