So you didn't react much to MCP but you did heavily to cholestyramine, right?
I started low and slow with the MCP. The times I made a big jump in the dosage amount, I did feel worse and knew it was from increasing the dosage, but you are correct. My reaction to MCP was nothing compared to CSM.
CSM really is the gold standard for binding many toxins. It can make a huge difference for some. I have finally moved into the house we bought and had mold remediation done on. At some point after things settle down, I would like to try pure CSM if I can afford a jar. The pure compounded version is very expensive.
I remember watching the video of the Canadian woman. She had horrific symptoms with seizures. She initially improved with abx for a couple of weeks and then the sx all came back. Finally, the doctor gave her CSM, and she got her life back.
Shoemaker says he found that people who had exacerbated responses to CSM were those with active Lyme or MARCONS. I tested negative for MARCONS in the beginning, so I started asking about
Lyme, as my WB was only positive for bands 41 and 66 (I think). Ended up testing with Igenix and then DNA Connexions, where I finally tested positive for Lyme and ehrlichia.
I don’t know if Shoemaker is 100% right on that. There may be other reasons why some people react so strongly. If my faded memory is any good, my impression on that topic was that if a person had an ongoing infection by pathogens that produce toxins and they have a genetic susceptibility, that the pathogens would continue producing toxins (maybe even more so in response to the CSM?) and that would cause the exacerbated response. I don’t recall reading that. It’s just my interpretation of what might be happening in that regard. He would have them do CSM for 30 days I think and treat the infection. He would treat Lyme for “a reasonable amount of time” and MARCONS until they tested negative./////////////////////////////////////////
Are you referring to Justin and Christa?
LLMD MR in Seattle was her doctor.
