"Astronan,
I was hoping you would have something to say. I know you’ve done a lot of work on tense muscles. So, you naturally gravitate to fetal position, too? Did you find that the therapy changed your body’s tendency to tense up in the first place, or do you constantly have to do the therapy to undo the results of ongoing subconscious or unconscious tension?
Do you feel that Lyme/co caused your body tension? "

I can more easily "shut my brain off" in the fetal position, so Im more inclined to fall asleep in less than five minutes, I roll over on my back after a while though. I am very physically relaxed in any position now, once asleep, my brain and body are at ease - I dont tighten up.
Pain used to dictate my sleep position and it would change. I had a stuck SI joint occasionally in the past and when it started to loosen up, it was very unstable and painful. Sleeping without pain was a challenge.
My past health experiences are not easy to describe in a few sentences as I now believe I had episodes of lyme as an adolescent in the 1970's. It would wax and wane, some years not so bad.....but that was "normal life" for me and I was smart enough to ask my friends if they had these symptoms which they did not. Parents did nothing, but what could they have done?- the 1970's had minimal healthcare and obviously no internet. I was an out door kid and ticks were all over the local woods and fields and on me.
After a distinct "bullseye" rash around 1990, (which Drs did nothing and it later got infected), my body would wake me in a tight muscle spasm along my whole spine, I had extremity tingling with that too and insomnia. . . I also had bad anxiety during all seasons, and tremors which I no longer naturally do (no meds either).
So the "tick symptom package" hit me hardest in the early 90's.....a whole list. But I was a determined and invincible young man who continued try to live life to the fullest which meant doing lots of outdoor stuff for fun and on the competitive level- did this with pain and minimal sleep. I mention this because I now know that this made my health even worse (duh?). Injuries never healed correctly and I had repetitive motion injuries way to often.
The whole "tick symptom package" to me that developed total body tension was the after affects of that bullseye rash- a totally messed up nervous system, physical pains, and a very stiff body. But the body also stiffens up to protect from injury. My competitors healed faster (normal) I asked them. The fascia system is said to be what reacts most to physically protect the body from further injury. I am probably the only one here who ever mentions fascia. Its the white mesh between chicken skin and the meat- we have that too,its one big net. That is what can spread physical tension over the entire body and its reaction is probably a bi-product of injury and a nervous system under fire (tick infection in my case).
My body and brain were hijacked (total complete body and mind stress, many here will relate to that).
I tried PT many times before tick infection treatment. PT helped very minimally and all the clinicians I saw (several clinics) were puzzled at my lack of improvement. I gave up and tried Chiro. This helped to get things moving but still took more than normal effort for improvement. I learned alternative muscle healing techniques which I did at home and it helped a little.
Fast forward, after ABX 2014-2016, all my previous muscle release and healing techniques worked way better and I was now able to correct range of motion issues from 10-30 years ago. I developed scoliosis and that is also improving. Truth.
This is the best ive felt that I can remember. I cant remember any bad health stuff before around six, so I suppose I was fine up to that point.
I could tell my story or just say "yes". The story has important parts of the puzzle. Just saying yes gives you minimal info to go by.
All of the above is why I have always said you need to treat the infection and also body systems. Just treating the infection will do minimal for a body in a chronic state. Dont get me started on thyroid, gluten and food testing LOL, I could go on forever.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now I just have to deal with age related stuff which I am hopefully now better prepared for than average non-healthy thinking Americans over 50.
