I posted this on Pheonix Rising's Lyme disease forum but the discussion got a bit off-topic due to the members there mostly coming from a CFS/ME background and a focus on viruses.

I thought it might be of interest here - especially as there seems to be quite a lot of healthy self-experimentation going on here.

interested in your thoughts - and especially if there is anyone reading with Lyme and a microscope who can compare phtos of thier own hair.

It's not at all weird, there's a direct relation to spirochetes and weird hair fibers like you're describing. Many who have had Lyme Disease have also had Morgellons. Back in 2009George Noory had on Dr Amelia Withington and Dr. Randy Wymore to discuss the relation of lyme to Morgellons...

Now I'm not sure what you're describing is Morgellons, but I just wanted to comment to say there is a relation to what you're describing.

It's obvious you're on the right track, as the Phoenix Rising post did mention Morgellons.

We're well past that point with both of these chronic diseases and the CDC has been completely wrong about both of them. With chronic lyme there is a true infection and lyme patients do relapse due to drug resilient stealthy coinfections like bartonella, along with spirochete round body forms called persister cells and biofilms.

It's sad our medical community has completely railed us with both of these disease and that we had to turn to alternative news from sources like Coast to Coast AM or Unexplained Files to report on them. But as Stanford Writer Kris Newby said, this is probably due to the controversial war history behind weaponized ticks and stealthy bacteria like bartonella and borrelia.

thanks for the reply Charlie - will view a couple of those links

just thought that people here struggling for a diagnosis - or having all the symptoms of Lyme / Bart but negative C6 or western blots ( which leaves you with a myriad of possible causes eg, mold, gut disorders, viruses, immune dysfunction, parasites, ME/CFS, MS etc etc and potentially years of more tests and illness) could look at their hair under the microscope and get a pretty clear idea what's going on if they look like this.

it's possible ( maybe even likely) that this symptom tracks disease severity and if so this would also give people who are forced to self treat like us a way of tracking the underlying illness/treatment effectiveness.

it would be really useful if more people here could look at their hair under a microscope and see what they find.
That way we could see if its something that shows up in a high % of people with Lyme. ( so far 2 out of 2 = 100% )

the Microscope doesn't have to be anything fancy - pretty much any basic biological microscope with around 400x magnification would do. eg typical students microscope used in schools,

Lyme has so many non-specific symptoms that overlap with a dozen other things. Every differential symptom is significant. ( i can't imagine many disorders cause hair fiber defects like these )

it would have saved me around 5 years of my life if I had discovered this sooner - and plenty of others spend 10 years without a proper diagnosis .....
