I was sad this week to see the loss of the greatest New York Met player (pro baseball), Tom Seaver. It is interesting, according to one of the many stories I read about him, that in one it read "Seaver was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 1991, and it reoccurred in 2012 and led to Bell’s Palsy and memory loss."
Last year Seaver was diagnosed with dementia. What I found most interesting is in the quote I cited about and others, it seems to suggest Seaver was bitten again, and it states that exactly in one article. This seems to fit what we have heard from Lyme "non-believers" that it is not a chronic infection that impacted him but another tick bite or exposure to some type of bite.
It seems the medical world still is holding onto outdated information and ideas. But that should should surprise no one on this forum.
People loved Tom Seaver, including me, and I wasn't even a Met fan. But from all the great things I had read about Seaver the man and athlete, it's a shame he went too early and how it happened.
