Daptomycin, Doxycycline, and Ceftriaxone

if u hear of a doc who scrips dap let us know. i did a year of ceftriaxone with zith and other modalities via a smart port (one can shower and swim etc) piccs are for short timers ....

I have been offered this combo by my LLMD and I'm still deciding if I want to try it.

I'm not certain how they prescribe the daptomycin and get insurance to cover it, but it sounds like their office has done this before.

I haven't found many people who have tried this combo.

If you search the forums there is at least one member who did and responded positively.

I did, I had a picc for almost 2 years. This combo helped me reach remission the first time. It was the last combo I did through my picc before I had it pulled. I did a lot of different combos prior. Side effects weren’t too bad. I don’t remember horrific herxing with it. I can’t remember...

@chicknorris wow, that's great to hear. How long did you do this combo for? And did you have to ease into it?

I think I did it for like four months. It’s hard to remember. I did not ease in to it but I had been on IV antibiotics continuously for over a year prior to starting it. I did relapse a few months after finishing that protocol but have since found good health again with disulfiram.

If anyone is curious, I have an update on the Daptomycin...

My MARCoNS swab was positive (who knows what this actually means, clinically) and we submitted an order for Daptomycin to see if the insurance company would approve.

In the meantime, I have already been on IV Ceftriaxone. My doctor wanted 6 weeks of this, and I am starting week 6 today.

It's been an absolute nightmare trying to figure this out between the infusion pharmacy and the insurance company. I have a feeling that because they used the ICD code for Lyme Disease for the Ceftriaxone, I am now flagged for additional scrutiny, despite the fact that they used an ICD code for Staph for the Dapto.

Anyway. I am going to pay out of pocket for 4 doses of Dapto this week, since the Dr said that it would be better than nothing. I will also be taking (oral) Doxy.

Despite the apparent issues with Daptomycin's lack of BBB-penetration, my (well-regarded) LLMD seems to like it.

If I find out anything else of interest, I'll be sure to update you all.
