this has been on my list to try for a while now also ( its a long list! lol)
mainly because i have what seems to be microcirculation issues and suspected Bart which tends to cause lots of fibrin deposits which nattokinase is supposed to be very specific for and does not affect other clotting factors or blood chemistry.
i took one capsule of Now foods Nattokinase 2000gdu a few days ago - on an empty stomach mid-morning as a trial. ( edit - it was Drs Best Brand Nattokinase|)
i had chosen a period where most things were stable and wasn't really expecting anything dramatic from one capsule - but i had quite a few signs of gut symptoms starting around 45mins afterward and worsening for a few hours and lasting for the rest of that day. i was a bit off-color, maybe a bit more fatigue than normal - but mainly just ggut symptoms = cramps, knots, gurgling, mild to moderate sharp pains.
it had been my intention to start at this low dose of one capsule and work my way up - but its was quite an impact on my day and think I would have to start at something like 1/5 of a capsule or less and work my way up from there for it to be tolerable.
would need to figure a way of doing that - maybe empty the capsule into a weighted amount of something neutral and dose with that? - so i think will shelve it until I find a way around that.
or maybe i will buy a blood oxygen meter and measure the rate of fall of blood oxygen saturation if i hold my breath ( meant to be a quick way of detecting fibrin deposits - as they slow the uptake of oxygen by cells from the blood - ref Ann Corson et al ) - and so check if fibrin is really an issue 1st before deciding to go through all the hassle and side effect type gut symptoms.
