I've posted my story before, but the quick version is that back in August of 2019 I had 48-72 hours where I had a constant burning sensation in both feet and when that subsided, I had foot pain and have ever since. I also started having back/spine pain in January that isn't as bad as the foot pain but still bothersome. I received a clinical diagnosis of Lyme with probably Bart/Babesia, started antibiotics in March, and tried different combinations...I'm currently taking Clarithromycin/Rifampin/Oregano Oil/Grapefruit Seed Extract. I have had a few symptoms get better - especially fatigue - but the foot and back pain remain.
My question is this - how do I decipher the root cause of my foot pain? It is mostly in my heels and metatarsals and the best way I can describe it is that every step feels like I'm walking on cement. It does not hurt during rest, only when active on weight-bearing.
I've visited three podiatrists - one said I have high arches, the other two said plantar fasciitis. I asked all three about
fat pad atrophy and all three said mine looked normal. I recently did a cortisone shot for possible PF but it didn't seem to do much. I've tried heel cups, metatarsal pads, custom orthotics, memory foam inserts, etc. and still struggle to walk longer than 10-15 minutes without significant pain. I've done nerve and muscle conduction tests (both normal) and foot x-rays (normal).
Any thoughts on the root cause? And anything (aside from treatment) that helped those who experienced foot pain? Oh, and if this is Lyme or Bart and someone reading this improved from it that'd help to hear too
Thanks everyone!
