So been on keto for 2.5m, has really got my stomach and nerve pain infinitely better.
4 days ago i decided to supplement w/ miniature doses of methylfolate. I have double MTHFR and have never been able to get my methyl cycle going as even the tiniest bit of activated b-vitamins causes insane anxiety. Maybe it means i should just stay away, but I've always wondered to what extent this played a role in my disease, and would getting my methyl cycle going be similar to a herxheimer in that its painful at first, but once i get through the growing pains, i come out the other end stronger.
So using 1mcg of methyfolate and 10mcg methyl b12, i developed severe anxiety and agitation on day 4 and had to stop. But the other thing i noticed is that my stomach almost immediately became A MESS. I'm burping again, have that full feeling, and my stomach feels very inflamed and acidic. 4 days ago it was PERFECT, best in years due to careful cradling with keto.
I guess I"m just wondering what's the link, if any, between methylation and SIBO? Did my methylation issue contribute to SIBO/gut inflammation, and if so whats the mechanism? And how would supplementing w/ methyfolate cause a relapse in these issues?
There's something there, just not sure what it is...
