Spent the morning reading about
this. Here is the paper NN refers to:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/256187876_metabolic_features_of_the_cell_danger_responseHe does indeed mention lysine and b6 as two supplements that oppose the CDR.
If the literature and theories are correct, it is maintained by purinergic signalling. The cells eschew ATP in an effort to shut down their metabolism such that the invading agent cannot replicate. ATP was never believed to be a neurotransmitter, but it now appears that there is evidence that it functions like any another neurotransmitter such as glutamate and acetylcholine.
I've been curious about
glutamate's role in sensory neuropathy. This just adds another layer to the onion.
It appears that P2X2 and P2X3 are the ATP receptors found in sensory neurons.
According to Wiki:
Allosteric modulation
The sensitivity of P2X receptors to ATP is strongly modulated by changes in extracellular pH and by the presence of heavy metals (e.g. zinc and cadmium). For example, the ATP sensitivity of P2X1, P2X3 and P2X4 receptors is attenuated when the extracellular pH<7, whereas the ATP sensitivity of P2X2 is significantly increased. On the other hand, zinc potentiates ATP-gated currents through P2X2, P2X3 and P2X4, and inhibits currents through P2X1. The allosteric modulation of P2X receptors by pH and metals appears to be conferred by the presence of histidine side chains in the extracellular domain.
In contrast to the other members of the P2X receptor family, P2X4 receptors are also very sensitive to modulation by the macrocyclic lactone, ivermectin.[33] Ivermectin potentiates ATP-gated currents through P2X4 receptors by increasing the open probability of the channel in the presence of ATP, which it appears to do by interacting with the transmembrane domains from within the lipid bilayer.[34]
Suprising that Zinc could make this worse, but I did notice from my notes that I got what I thought were increased excitatory headaches (i assumed glutamate) shortly after high doses of zinc. Will experiment with zinc to see if that was true or not.Post Edited (dcd2103) : 12/31/2020 9:33:07 AM (GMT-7)
