central sensitization

So I'm convinced now that I'm dealing with a form of central sensitization. This happens often in CRPS after an injury, but I feel that mainstream science has completely neglected to recognize that this can happen in typical peripheral neuropathies as well. The overlaps between CRPS and SFN are numerous (from c-fiber damage to glial cell activation to reynauds to sympathetic damage to erthryomelalgia).

I believe that this is what's causing the buzzing sensation I feel down both legs. It doesnt improve with my immune system (diet and IVIG) improvement, nor as the burning and pain improves. It is separate. The damage and pain to the nerves from my autoimmune condition ramps up the NMDA recpetors and glial cells in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord, which become sensitized and it begin to misfire. I'm like 95% certain this is what's happening. I likely have damage to my CNS as well, as was picked up on the PET MRI (hippocampal loss).

Central sensitization is a concept implicated in CRPS and fibromyalgia, but I've never seen it suggested as part of SFN. And it's so freaking obvious!

A bad neurologist will just prescribe gabapentin for SFN. A good neurologist will treat the cause (infection, triggers and immune system). An even better neurologist will advise the client to focus on healing the nerve damage. But there is another layer to the onion that NO ONE has recognized. It's the damage to the spinal cord and CNS which perpetuates the pain.

Long story short, I'm curious if anyone has any input on how to deal with central sensitization?

Obviously, ketamine helps. I worry that this will only be temporary, or not enough on its own. LDN I believe is supposed to help tamp down glial cell activtion. Luteolin and resveratrol are known to do this as well. Minocycline and Cialis both are known to have positive benefits with respect to sympathetic response. DNRS I believe will help w/ the central pain processing problem.

I'm curious if anyone has any other input or ideas? Maybe acupuncutre? Frequency specific microcurrent?Would be greatly, grealty appreciated. I've figured out something that modern medicine is competely oblivious too, i"m certain of it.

So basically you’ve gone full circle all the way back to central nervous system Retained-memory issues is what I like to call it. There’s continuous evidence that the body systems can get stuck in a loop even after the major offender is removed. That is also the idea of what part of autoimmune is although there always be people and some people here that definitely think you remove 100% of the problem and your symptoms will be gone, no that’s not how it works all the time.

So chiropractic likes to pride itself on being a nervous system healer. Only problem is what they do in clinics only has physical change differences it doesn’t seem to do anything deep to your nervous system.. Thus they are called quacks when they spout this BS. The honest ones wont say this.

The nucca system by adjusting the atlas sounds a little more promising but also a little too good to be true, however I have never tried it yet.

There is a new electronic gizmo out there that can physically heal some nerves , also muscles and tendons which is not what you’re talking about. Their thing is all about neural firing and damage correction. From what ive understood- They say fixing nerves outside the brain will retrain loops inside the brain. I have an info appt in three weeks directly with the company that makes it. I want to clear the smoke and mirrors and find out what exactly it does.

So obviously injured athletes use it. I might try it at some point in the near future at a chiro, but it’s also used by MS patients which is the interesting part. With MS I don’t know if they use it on their spine or what , but they claim that it can erase false nerve loops. Of course they use different terminology but I always put things in the layman’s terms. Company manufacture is called ARP Wave.

Girlie- do they take x-rays after and compare?

There are two Chiros by me that have a similar system - it’s an upper neck head adjustment no cracking and they do the x-rays before and after sounds very similar to the NUCCA but they don’t call it that.

Well this is interesting all three of these seem similar. The electrical impulse and/or patterns must be different.

Wave rx100 is patented, I assume the others would be too..

They all seem to be talking about jumping the cellular gap in tissue. Wave mentions there is potassium leakage in tissue causing a nerve pain loop, the RX100 jumps this gap healing all tissues. Adding potassium does not help in the "leak".

Hmm, the opposite is what i think is my problem. I think the ion-channels of my spine are over-sensitized. The threshold required for an action-potential is lowered, so they keep firing for no reason. I'm really really strugglign with this issue, its my most resistant symptom. The actual text-book neuropathy is improving, but this buzzing sensation is literally driving me nuts. My legs feel like theyre plugged into an electrical current and buzz extremely aggressively non-stop.
