The diagnosis of fibromyalgia really just describes a set of symptoms. It's a disorder that can be caused by a variety of things. You can have fibromyalgia that was triggered by a past or ongoing infection, such as Lyme, and therefore have both Lyme and fibromyalgia. The reason the underlying cause of fibromyalgia should be investigated is that the fibro symptoms might improve or even go away when the underlying cause is treated. Many of us with tick-borne infections were diagnosed with fibromyalgia along the way. It can be a helpful diagnosis because it's something that mainstream doctors acknowledge, so it can help your PCP or and ER doctor understand that you are chronically ill, even if they lack experience with what triggered the illness (Lyme). Most lab tests for tick-borne infections are unreliable, so it's a clinical diagnosis - meaning it must be made by a specialist based on signs and symptoms, not just test results. Many folks with tick-borne infections find that addressing their body's microbial health - through antibiotics, herbs, diet, etc. - improves their symptoms. Believing that an infection is triggering the fibro symptoms does not mean that you should not treat the fibromyalgia symptoms, but it might be best to work with a doctor who has experience with both fibro and tick-borne disease.

Positive but the #41 one ...all said past infection. Yes..thyroid is fine

I only had positive band 41, too. I later did DNA Connexions test, which came back positive for Lyme and ehrlichia.

Mold exposure can cause much of the symptoms you have and is commonly a cause of symptomatic illness in people who have Lyme. Check into the surviving mold website or biotoxin journey for more information.

There are doctors who understand both tick borne infections and environmental toxicity such as mold. You can look at ISEAI.org for a practitioner in your area.
