Genova Diagnostics: GI Effects Stool Profiles

Do you have any symptoms of dysbiosis/SIBO like gas, bloating, loss of appetite, especially after eating, particularly carbs?

Genova gives seminars to teach doctors to interpret their results. They can be ... not straightforward. Can you post a photo? I have results from 2016 and 2019, but from your description, the test either changed or you had a slightly different profile done. Hope you find the test useful! Mine were very interesting.

Through this test, I was found to have high levels of several potentially pathogenic organisms, and almost no beneficial organisms. Somehow I had no GI symptoms, aside from mild IBS when I got anxious about something, and gastroparesis (which is really a dysautonomia, and therefore a nervous system issue, that's more of a risk factor for dysbiosis than a symptom of it). My LLMD put me on a great dysbiosis formula - berberine, artemisinin, olive leaf, wormwood, and black walnut - that I took in the morning, with a high-dose probiotic in the afternoon. (He uses this for patients with SIBO or more general dysbiosis.) It was rough to handle at first as stuff died off, but within a month I dropped 25 pounds of weight I'd been carrying around since briefly taking an SSRI (which can mess with your gut flora) years beforehand.

looks like an interesting test - and certainly has a huge range of analytes tested - which can be useful

the issue becomes the sheer scale of the information, as each analyte has a story of its own and as a result - you need someone who has done that work to spend hours going through it with you - or do a crash course yourself.

the upshot of what the report is saying is that you have what looks like mild dysbiosis ( overabundance of some genus of bacteria vs others ) and you have some markers of intestinal inflammation. particularly secretory IgA
this is something released by the cells lining your gut when they find something inside they do not like.

however - apart from what looks like relatively mild dysbiosis - there is little to account for the very high S IgA numbers. no really high overgrowths of bacteria known to cause this kind of inflammation, no parasites detected, no H- Pylori, etc etc

this is a pattern often seen in Lyme patients as a whole - both my partner and i had this same pattern - mild dysbiosis and v high Secretory IgA. Did lots of gut dysbiosis type treatments - but none seemed to help much.

it seems as if Lyme ( i assume you have a Lyme diagnosis ) does something to the landcape of the gut such that inflammation runs high and a form of dysbiosis sets in - but exactly what and why is not yet clear and a topic that comes up for discussion on thsi forum quite frequently. ( i just posted another thread on this by the way, as there was a study just release specifically on the microbiome and chronic Lyme )

some say borrelia themselves infect the tissues of the gut and cause inflammation there ( ref Buhner -Healing Lyme) - leading to all the upset balance in the flora and general inflammation markers - other that common co-infections ( particularly Baronella and perhaps Mycoplasma infect the endothelial cells of the gut lining ( ref Burrascano andhis ILADS guidelines) and upset the balance that way.

for my partner and I it has been very hard to get a handle on - tried may many things - but the single biggest thing we have done that helped is adopting a whole food Ketogenic diet. in fact after aroudn 12 months of less than 20grams of carbohydrate a day, and very little else in terms of interventions, my partner recovered and went back to work.
