I also sometimes get the same symptoms.
Something I am looking into more is general inflammation/candida/mold/fungi/acetylaldahyde etc. which seem to increase with starch or glucose/fructose or burdened immune function.
Aceytaldahyde is associated with hangover symptoms (headache, fatigue, malaise).
Increasing l-ornithine and more exercise, better sleep, seems to be helping me the last couple days.
One thing about processed starches, white flour, etc and sugars are they tend to be free meals for opportunistic pathogens in the body (like fungi/mold/candida/dental bugs/bad gut bugs etc), which tend to use glucose etc instead of oxygen (ie are often anaerobic).
Possibly why excess simple starches/sugar can cause inflammation (excess immune response) is that now the immune system may get burdened dealing with everything that starts rapidly replicating in the presence of an easy food source.
For example, white flour is closely equivalent to sugar:
“The Glycemic Index (GI) of White Sugar and White Flour.
On the GI, we have 63 for table sugar and 71 for flour. This shows that white flour is worse than regular granulated sugar, even though the sugar has both glucose and fructose, in terms of GI.”
https://www.drberg.com/blog/whats-worse-white-sugar-or-white-flour
So white flour/pasta/breads etc may not be much better than sugar, glucose wise.
“A raspberry has a high sugar content along with high fiber content, which means the sugar is released quickly, but the fiber content will slow down its progress through the body. Breads are starches, but they breakdown as quickly as sugar, spiking sugar levels.”

This is also a consideration for cancer cells (which also tend to increase with excess sugar) which burdens the immune system as it has to constantly find and eliminate because cell mutations are common from exposure to toxins, uv, ageing, etc.
“Normal human cells need just the right amount of oxygen — not too much nor too little — to survive and stay healthy. This critical balance is regulated by an intricate oxygen-sensing process in the body, the discovery of which earned the 2019 Nobel Prize in Medicine shared by Dana-Farber scientist William G. Kaelin, Jr., MD, and two other researchers. ...
In addition, the HIFs change how cancer cells metabolize glucose (sugar) so that it can still be used to make energy even in the absence of oxygen.“

It is interesting that it is often recommended to deal with candida when using dsf because of acetyladahyde etc. but also maybe because of opportunistic flares and changes in biome balances.
Mold/fungi/candida/acetyaldahyde can have the same symptoms as Lyme/bartonella etc.
Anything that reduces or burdens immune function may be wellness/recovery factors - like inflammation, lack of exercise/fresh air, sitting too long, lack of sleep, stress/relationship issues, depression/loneliness, excess sugar, biome imbalance, toxins, aceladehyde (toxin), etc.
In addition, it may be easy to focus on finding the the right supplements but these other aspects may also be key factors in maximizing recovery, and what’s the limit on how much these can be expanded/improved.
