Cignet, My LLPA warns me when I'm about to start the Lyme/Babs protocol (with Mepron) about depression. Apparently, the drugs can cause it? Or perhaps even the herx? But it is something she specifically mentions.

I can't say I have experience with mepron specifically, but it seems that so many people have issues with intense psychological herxing when they are treating parasites, including babesia. I know I did. I used herbals and the herx brought me to my lowest point. It was scary and I felt like giving up on life. I hope knowing that other people have experienced this and it IS due to the meds/herx will help. I also will add that when I stopped my antiparasitic/antimalarial herbs the depression resolved within a couple weeks. It was like night and day.

Cignet when I was being treated for Babesia I definitely suffered from the Mepron blues!! I later had to retreat but chose Malarone which I tolerated much better although I was not given the high dose you were. These “blues” will definitely go away when you stop the medicine but it will take a little time due to the long half-life.
