Just made an interesting observation. There was discussion on here a few weeks ago about
what causes low WBC. It seems that consensus is chronic infection. Just gotta tease out if its tickborne, viral, or parasite.
Anyway, going back to 2013 when I first started going to drs my WBC has been low. Average is probably a 3.2. Got as low as a 2.4, high as a 3.5. I had maybe 15 readings in that time period. I also had SIBO that whole time as my gut was messed up w significant gas/loose stools, although that wasnt officially confirmed until 2018.
Anyway, when I went into ketosis for 6m and my bacteria levels went down, I noticed on my Jan 2021 and early March 2021 CBS's that my WBC rose to a 4.4 and 4.5 respectively. I've never seen it above a 4.0. I came out of ketosis late march and as mentioned i developed SIBO again late April, which saw me back at the drs. Just got those results, he runs a CBC every time among other things, and it fell down to a 2.7.
Just thought that was interesting. It makes me wonder if there's a parasite or pathogenic strain down there suppressing my immune system, or a yeast. And when I eat sugar and everything grows it goes to town on my immune system.
Here's a shot from Quest, doesnt have my NYU datapoints which extend further back, but you can kinda see what I'm talking about
. That 6m i was on ketosis were the only 2 normal (albeit low normal) data points (this graph only has one of the low normal readings as other one was at NYU, but good enough visual). Coincidence?
