Iv antibiotics

How can I go about doing this now, so you know u have lyme etc based on having enough bands come out reactive on the western blog plus symptoms, the doc says your negative due to the CDC and their guidelines, and by now u have late stage lyme, babesia, bart etc. Most antibiotics are still somewhat effective, bt iv antibiotics would be best. How can you get iv antibiotics if your doc wont do it cuz your negative in their eyes,and you're not seeing an llmd at the moment? Iv antibiotics are only administered through a doctor more likely an llmd right? U cant get iv antibiotics at an iv hydration clinic right? I just need to know what my options are for iv antibiotics as I think I need them due to having lyme/babesia for like 20 years aleady 😒is my best bet to see an llmd ? I wanted to pay for the 1st appt. Get some testing done which is covered by in network insurance ranges, and then self treat, bt looks like I'd need to keep seeing an llmd for iv antibiotics?

I believe that IV Rocephin and other IV Rx should only be used for the most severe neuro lyme cases, and for folks who's gut cannot tolerate any oral abx protocols. Costs for IV therapy are very high, and most insurance will only cover up to one or maybe two months maximum. Check with your insurance coverage before making any decisions.

I did 13 month IV Rocephin plus another 3 months IV Doxy consecutively, along with other oral ABX and herbal protocols with only marginal improvements to get to maybe 50% well. Treat Babs and Bart aggressively first with Rx and herbals to gain better improvements.

Someone has to prescribe the iv antibiotics, so you would need an llmd for that. Getting insurance to pay for them is tricky. Depending on your doctor you may infuse iv meds in their office or some center or they’d have a picc line or port of some kind implanted and either purchase the iv drugs from their office or get you set up with a home infusions service.

Good to know, so I have state insurance bt I was pretty positive that's covered by it like most things bt maybe not , I mean naturopathic docs and llmds dnt take state insurance then ago so who knows

before i could afford abx from infuserve america i considered doing IM shots of bicillin or even rocephin with lido ...it come out to 6$ a gram if your willing to mix and inject in your butt without hitting a blood vessel; it can cover for 2-7 days . all day has rocephin needles may be harder to get . if you're serious about long term you do need find a doc to install port or picc then you can self admin with elastomeric pump balls . shipping costs frozen goods is what taxed me btw

Dr J prescribes IV abx but it is very costly. And he doesn’t recommend it for all patients.

i understand the urge to go for IV abx - especially if you have trouble tolerating oral abx

but from a lot of my reading it seems to be a personal preference thing amongst LLMD's with many of them favouring oral over IV abx. unless patient is in life threatening condition with lyme/coinfection.

there are risks with IV abx worth considering - especially with PIC line infections etc.

intra muscular shots of the ones that can be taken that way have been shown to be just as effective as some IV abx - so that is lower risk and could be an option.

i also cant see regular insurance covering it for long enough - as the old CDC guidelines are used by insurance companies to limit their costs and maximise profits.

on the other hand there is good research showing the blood concentrations achieved with oral ABX varies dramatically from patient to patient - which may explain in part where one combo works so well for one person and not at all for the next.
Burrascano commonly found 10x differences in plasma concentrations in his patients on the same dose. for some doxy is poorly absorbed but tetracycline is absorbed 5x better so its obviously a very individual thing.

so it may be worth experimenting more with different Oral ABX to see if you react to them all as bad - or if some work for you better. after such a long time infected and with symptoms it seems likely a multi-drug combo might be needed.

if you have had thorough co-infection testing done - it might help guide you towards which abx to use for best coverage of your particular co-infections as well as Lyme. But some LLMD assume Lyme, Babesia and Bart are all present and treat for all - esp in hard to treat cases.

2.5 months of iv rocephin + oral zith did not have a lasting benefit for me.

DrJ only treats certain cases with IV abx

I believe about 30% or f his patients he recommends in abx - but only 20% can do them
If I’m remembering correctly - The patient needs to be close enough to his office - for the first infusion of each abx he prescribes for safety reasons.

He has a criteria when they are recommended - serious cases - ie those diagnosed as having ALS - is one of them.
He says he can help some ALS patients if they get help earlier n the disease.

there are few hard and fast rules with Lyme and co-infections

unfortunately, the course of each individuals illness and therefore their path to recovery is highly variable. its a spectrum and therefore very difficult to predict what will happen in any one individuals case.

as an example- there are many people walking around living apparently normal lives wo have lyme and other infections
there are some that get only a "summer flu" and then recover
there are some that get a bulls-eye rash and take 2 weeks of antibiotics and recover
and there are those that are extremely ill for decades

the disease severity and ability to reach remission is part dependent on the host and the host immune response - and part dependent on the strain or strains of Lyme and co-infections which are present - some being more virulent than others - and the total number generally being correlated with more severe disease and longer treatment duration / difficulty reaching remission.

there is also mounting evidence that tailoring treatment for different co-infections, where present, is associated with greater chances of remission. more evidence is mounting that Lyme is rarely just Lyme and most if not all patients also have co-infections, some of which seem to be more challenging than Lyme itself when it comes to getting the patients to remission.

ref the general tune of anecdotes here being less than a vindication of IV strategies - its worth noting that there exists a bias in forums such as this one towards those that have failed various treatments and are therefore still ill and searching for more treatments/support - the people who have recovered are mainly getting on with their lives rather than spending time on Lyme forums - so its worth bearing that in mind when reading anecdotes.

i think IV is worth a try if a person can afford it - and goes into it aware of the risks and with reasonable expectations - as its possible it can be a shorter treatment duration for some.
