Well, I had posted a while ago in the original DSF topic about
my plans for a second round of DSF after going five months without any Lyme Rx or Herbal protocols. Around February I started to feel my old Lyme sx start to return so my LLMD and I decided to retry DSF again. I started a little more aggressive than last time with 125mg for a few days, then 125mg twice a day for a week or so before getting back to 375mg.
I started to see some of my returning sx diminish a bit.... then on April 18 I had a second syncope blackout. This time while at a Sunday breakfast at my favorite local diner. I was carried out on a gurney for a sleepover at my local hospital with no heart attack symptoms detected again. This was very similar to another episode last June when I had ramped up to 500mg DSF.
I brought up the DSF common connection to both blackouts to my PCP, LLMD and Cardiologist. I had research that DSF side effects could cause people with heart disease to faint, but that was if alcohol was taken while on the drug. So, absent of any drinking, DSF alone should not have caused the episode. My LLMD passed the decision on to my cardio if I should continue with DSF. My cardio now thinks that it's Lyme Cardisis that may have caused both episodes, and wants me on a 24 hr event monitor for a month, then check the results, and do an Echocardigram.
Based on the Lyme Cardisis possibility my LLMD wants me back on IV Rocephin. But that's a big commitment and I couldn't work, and would be physically limited for a good duration. I want to wait for 30 days to better decide on IV, and in the meantime I'll be on Bicillin IM shots. I had the heart monitor started today, and the Bicillin is in the fridge waiting for first shot this weekend.
All this was on top of a separate issue starting with a UTI treated by my PCP, that turned into a collapsed bladder caused by a prostate condition now under investigation by a urologist. Not a good past 30 days I must say.
