Not a publication I normally read, but this is where google landed; prob out there many places:

My medically documented compromised immune cells (1 in 25,000 US people have this specific one) have caused me a great deal of wondering the cause: Autoimmune,, thyroid, lyme, antibiotics ect....maybe all together in my case.? Tired of the future health unknowns it could bring.

What got me thinking of it again: Workplace just asked if I got my covid vax..............was not ready for that question by the boss. He said he can legally ask it, I checked, yes true. My spur of the moment answer: "not yet" . Of course the usual you "should get it because...bla bla bla..."

My answer:..." I'm immunocompromised and also have autoimmune and the CDC clearly states they have no data regarding this with the vaccine .....yet". I get the impression they (others actually, like JohnHopkins U) are working on it.

****I may be forced to do something Im not ready to experiment with. And dont feel I should need to fully explain my medical condition with the boss. I might need to. I can be expelled for not doing it should my employer decide to (yes its lawful here, I checked that too). From their view point, (yes I see it), I am the minority......and majority rules. Maybe they will drop it.....I dont know. I Lost trust today.

****I dont take IGIV and dont want to... 20K a month. Seems its best to leave a sleeping wolf sleep and dont piss it off with unknowns. Something no one wants to understand, since most never heard of it.

Astro, which immunodeficiency do you have? And which autoimmune?

I take IVIG for the autoimmune. Dosage is much higher than for immunodeficiency (I’m on 140g/month vs 20g I believe for those immunodeficiencies).

If you have problems w frequent infections may make sense to try the IVIG, it’s pretty safe. But if you’re not getting sick frequently you’re probably right just let it be.

I understand your hesitation on the vaccine.

Wow! I didn’t know that was happening (employers legal rights re: COVID vaccines). I am really sorry. No one should have that kind of stress hanging over them like that, especially not people who already have health issues.

Looks like this might be a good time to look for legal representation who will defend people’s rights not to be vaccinated and to be protected from discrimination in employment. Surely there will be lawyers who will challenge this.

This is likely a 100% certainty, right behind death and taxes. At least, here in the U.S. People file lawsuits over just about everything. I imagine there will be a lot of religious and philosophical exemption requests.

Some healthcare positions have long required various immunizations and vaccinations (such as Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Pertussis, Influenza (yearly), etc.) even in technical roles like a field engineer. In my current search for employment, I still see this requirement as a condition of employment.

I realize that's a bit different than suddenly changing a policy to mandate vaccines for existing employees. My point, though, is that mandating immunizations and vaccines has somewhat of a precedent. So, it will be interesting to see how things go.

The CDC has written: "The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not mandate vaccination. However, whether a state, local government, or employer, for example, may require or mandate COVID-19 vaccination is a matter of state or other applicable law."

In reading on the topic, I find all manner of differing and contradictory information about what employers can and can't mandate; what employers can and can't ask, regarding proof of vaccination; and what employees do and don't have to do, in response to such questions.

dcd- Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), which is oddly not so common (see below)

"CVID is formally diagnosed by levels of IgG and IgA more than two standard deviations below the norm, and no other cause for hypogammaglobulinemia, an abnormally low level of immunoglobulins in the blood. It is thought to affect between 1 in 25,000 to 1 in 50,000 people worldwide."

Plus my total globulin's below limit (hypogammaglobulinemia), and under-range B and T cells. Out of two clinics and three labs, the Mayo gave this official diagnosis.

I should get sick often, apparently most would with my levels....good thing were all different. Apparently whats left works, that was their guess.

My clinic Dr for this is nothing special. He admits not much is known or proven with this and just takes yearly labs with the typical "do you function ok?" question and then just watches. Its the wait and see approach.

My autoimmune is hashimoto (which actually affects the whole body), vitaligo, sometimes high ANA and I must manage glucose levels (no meds).

I work for a high tech science type company. Company big boss sees things one way, his way as he thinks he is the smartest person around on any subject. Everything is black and white no in between (cold).. CDC is his holy grail on this. But CDC also says (web page) there is no data yet on the vax with immunocompromised and or autoimmune patients. Its a "disclaimer" from the CDC!

Its taken me two decades from starting my research to now -feeling as good as I finally do with all my heath stuff, not just lyme.

Dont want to upset my teeter-tottering immune system now that its finally sitting still.

I looked at immunocompromised forums.........those people dont question anything, just do as told, without self research. But there is less of them than "lyme people" , the #'s just are not there for a good, usable forum. Unless someone can find one for me,...most have unanswered questions from weeks or months before.

HIPPA protection is, for some reason, thrown out the window on this. No privacy. I was shocked when he blatantly asked. There was no official company questionnaire or anything. Dont know if hes privately one-on-one asking employees this or not. Maybe(?).

I imagine most Drs will just side with employers vs employees. Most Drs could care less, after all they had to get it them selves. An LLMD might write a note....but will an employer believe a Dr who advertises "lyme" on their website?

A: If you require your employees to be vaccinated as a condition of employment (i.e., for work-related reasons), then any adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine is work-related. The adverse reaction is recordable if it is a new case under 29 CFR 1904.6 and meets one or more of the general recording criteria in 29 CFR 1904.7.
