Most doctor's follow CDC guidelines.
I haven't checked lately and the CDC website gets me too angry to check it right now, but they have always advocated only treating for about 2 weeks.
Which is a treatment based on outdated information and a flawed very old study.
There have been countless studies that have proven that chronic lyme is very real,.. these studies get ignored by the CDC.
If you really want to understand the underlying logic, I would recommend watching the documentary "Under our Skin". In which it is revealed that most people in the CDC Lyme department are shareholders in several insurance companies.
Hence, admitting that Lyme is a multi-year (or decades) long disease, would not be very favorable for insurance companies. This trickles down to the shares that are held by people at the CDC like Gary P Wormser.
Therefore, most Lyme patients have a very understandable hatred for the CDC.
I was in the hospital once, and a doctor straight up told me "Lyme isn't real".
After some time he told me, that he went to a conference where he learned this.
So it wouldn't surprise me if doctors are constantly indoctrinated with this information by the CDC, even after graduation.
One or two years ago a new book came out called "Bitten". In it, there are documents that reveal that on Plum Island there used to be extensive experiments in which they infected ticks with diseases.
This is another reason why Lyme is suppressed, if you really dig deep you'll understand we're dealing with something that (purposely?) escaped from a lab.
A couple years ago this book was making rounds on all major news channels, with headlines such as "Is Lyme a bioweapon?". And Rep. Chris Smith wanted to investigate the pentagon for it. But it never happened.
So yeah it's complicated but I would start with watching that documentary that I mentioned. It's a bit dated but it still holds to this date.
