Rant- and I need to universe to cross its fingers for me.
Finding a conventional Dr who'll flexibly manage a thyroid disorder is hard to find. They're so swift to make you hypo again without listening to you. I cannot function properly while hypo.
Took me years to find one, 12 years ago. My just -retired endo worked pretty well after a while - listened and learned from knowledgeable patients vs ignoring them. Then the soon-to-retire notice was made. Said his younger college could manage my thyroid condition just fine.
I had a bad gut feeling about
this........
Well, this younger guy doesn't understand fine tuning desiccated thyroid dose. If I were to drop the dosage as he wants, I will be hypo. You don't make huge adjustments like that, as symptoms return. I communicated my concerns on the "e-portal" thing. Might need another appointment to get my point across. He doesn't seem to "ego" based, kind of the nerdy geeky type, but those types can sometimes be very strict going "by the book." Personality wise, based on one visit- we mix like water and oil.
This is ridiculous. He can see my whole thyroid roller-coaster history and that its been doing the best ever after going gluten free at my "target" thyroid levels, which are a little higher than most Drs prefer. . So why would anyone change that "target" level with good history attached to it?
This clinic is still privately owned and has their own lab which is nice - they did not "sell out" to the hospitals who now own every other clinic around the country. Same day lab info is priceless- but only with a Dr who understands. They understand nodules too, which is rare.
Will try to convince him in a professional and firm manner, if that doesn't work, and putting my foot down firmer still doesn't work, I will have to talk to the owner and/or leave to find another Dr who will listen.
So many Drs are afraid to dose natural thyroid and do not trust a patients educated judgement.
this is just a rant, but any ideas for convincing this dude to look at it from my thyroid history viewpoint would be welcome.
