I read somewhere that I shouldnt take collagen powder or to be cautious if I have mast cell activation syndrome or high histamine levels as it can increase these? Has anyone had increased histamines or allergic reactions and sensitivities when taking collagen powders? Also worried about
certain amino acids like arginine due to it inhibiting ebv and hsv1 shingles etc.certain amino acids can cause more depression or anxiety which I absolutely do not need more of lol. Should I worry this much or just try it?

I tried it and it made me incredibly fatigued. I have similar issues to you. It is hard on sick bodies. I would say no. As it was just a waste of money for me.

I bought some but worried when I read the same stuff. They say the high oxalates are bad for mcas patients. My mcas doc was sort of like meh when I asked him about
whether it was safe. But he’s very university doc, and says stuff like supplements won’t really help mcas. So yeah I’d take what he says with a grain of salt.

Don't have any identified conditions such as Lyme Disease but seem to be allergic to many things.
I didn't do well on collagen, my wife was going to take the rest of it and she felt like she was getting a sinus infection or similar. Stopped the collagen and is doing much better

I almost didn’t read this but glad I did. I do not tolerate collagen supplements. My first doctor for CIRS had me on bone broth daily. I took it for 6 months and then got shingles. After reading about
arginine and shingles, I stopped the bone broth. I tried to go back to it about
a year later and couldn’t tolerate it. I tried Great Lakes collagen and quit after 3 days. It hurt my gut and made me feel itchy/twitchy. Bee pollen also apparently has arginine and can aggravate me. too.
I definitely have MCAS symptoms mainly from mold issues. My MCAS symptoms go up and down depending on other things. I had a really bad flare last night after eating fried fish and felt allergic and itching in various places. Super anxiety-provoking.
In regards to the collagen, I thought I had issues solely because of shingles. I didn’t know about
MCAS connection, but it definitely makes sense.

Is trying collagen powder without arginine an option I'm wondering?

I just did a quick search and found this article. Maybe try the supplements listed minus the collagen. Bone broth seems to be the least provoking form. You could try drinking a small amount daily 2-3 oz and see how it affects you. Sounds like Vit C is good. Didn’t know Vit C did this.
