My son was very fatigued for a while after the shot. I think that's part of it. But you now have protection.

Thanks Huddie - yup my son is happy. I’m thinking him pushing me was from him being worried about me getting covid.
He’s also a rule follower - lol

I had the vax on Saturday - so today I am Day 4 (not counting the day of)

Just want to mention that there are other vaxes that I have questioned as well. Not just this one.
When my son was in grade 5 (or 6) - the school was going to administer the vax for the hepatitis that is transferred via infected needles or sex with someone who has it.
I kept my son home that day.
I was criticized : “ you don’t know what your son is doing after school - he could get it from doing drugs or having sex with someone who has it.
Umm.. yes I do - he’s at home playing with his leggo.

Appreciate you weighing in. Question: Do you have chronic Lyme?

Many of us have known each other for years, and have even spoken off this board. We know who is real and who is not. I can't speak for everyone but I don't go on blogs, You Tube, etc... searching out opinions.

Again, I won't speak for others. For me personally it's a very hard decision. I want to be vaccinated from this virus. I am highly sensitive and react to everything. I was rushed to the ER in high school with doctors yelling at me when I came to - to tell them what drugs I was on. I took two Midol and passed out during an exam. After minor surgeries I passed out. I've reacted to antibiotics by trembling and shaking and my husband has to hold my legs/arms. I could go on.

So yes it is a decision: 1. Hopefully nothing happens from the vaccine. Just the normal response. 2. Or all my neurological/nerve symptoms return that I've worked for years to get better, and I'm worse or 3. I get Covid.
These are not great options. These are not great choices.

I'm an extremely positive person who believes no matter what I will ultimately be ok.

I'm just writing all this to say that I'm a bit surprised at your post. I'm not disagreeing with it. It is logical and even accurate but it sounds like the voice of someone who doesn't have to weight these options. I hope that is the case because that makes you fortunate.

I can relate. I'm not an anti vaccine person. I mean thank goodness for small pox/polio vaccines, but I don't think we need everything offered. I waited as long as possible with my son and spaced them out. There are still many he doesn't have. His pediatrician scolds me each year that I won't allow PPV or the one for meningitis -and college won't let him in without it. I don't know what to do. No way he's getting two new vaccines. One battle at a time”

Yes! They give vaccines at school!
I wish they didn’t. I would have rather taken him to the Health Clinic.
I worried that they would “accidentally” give him the shot I didn’t want him to have !

I think the HVP one was another I didn’t see the need for until he was older. I think that one had some bad side effects.

I was on here a lot years ago. The mods/posters on HW helped me and my son through so much. I'm forever grateful and this board has a special place in my heart. I haven't been on at all for a few years because we're both doing so much better.

I revisited about a month or so ago because I got an unrelated infection and the antibiotics I had to take, woke up some symptoms. Then I came on to see how everyone is doing with the 'to vaccinate or not to vaccinate' decision(s).

It is a hard roll of the dice for each of us. Let's all continue to keep each other posted.

Girlie, let us know how you are doing today. I hope it is becoming a faint memory. I think you work today - good luck.

I also was more active here in years past but came back to see what was being said about the V. Regardless of what we each decide, it has really helped me to know that others are facing the same struggle with this decision. I feel super isolated and alone with the decision since it’s such an easy one for my healthy family members. Now that delta is raging where I live (Ozarks), I’ve asked my vaccinated mom and stepdad to start wearing a mask around me when they help me with meals and transportation. My mom didn’t like that at all and I felt small and like I was micromanaging them with my request. I’m so so close to being able to care for myself (more debilitated by a stubborn back injury than Lyme these days), but I sadly still need their help to survive.

I'm glad you took care of you but sorry you are still experiencing pain. If all you have is scapula pain that sounds promising? How is your energy level and other overall symptoms? Doesn't sound like any other symptoms returned. Well that is my hope for you.

Tomorrow is one week so that should be a good sign. I hope that even though it's now what you wanted, you feel a big relief having gotten it. It must feel like freedom in a way.

Hi. This is GREAT news. GREAT! So one week of ick and now getting better. So happy for you.

What do you mean the booster has worse side effects? We haven't been approved for boosters yet but they are coming. I've heard with Pfizer and Moderna the second shot is a bit harder because it mounts the full immune response. Who knows. My son seemed the same on both but he had Covid so who knows. He was just really, really tired, slight headache, low grade fever. I was amazed at how well he did. My. husband felt a little tired with the first but that was it. Nothing. It's good to be strong.

To tomorrow being the day you wake up back to Girlie. You are brave!!!

I misunderstood. We just refer to it as the second dose.

Pfizer is first dose/shot - then three weeks later, second dose/shot

Moderna is first dose - then four weeks later second dose.

Boosters are what the 'third' dose is being referred to, meaning people will possibly be required to get a booster in six months (or more) time post full vaccination (having received two shots - or one shot if you received J&J)
