[.....One way to know if u have babs is try clindamycin. This antibiotic took ALL of my head pressure away , my dizziness and my POTS symptoms , low blood pressure, however I stopped taking it due to blood flow issues and neuro phsyc increased in symptoms. This was my sign that I possible have babesia as clinda isnt effective against any other tick bacteria only babs.
sorry to contradict but this statement is at odds with many very clear scientific references showing that clindamycin is active for many co-infections in the lyme and co-infection group
specifically a quick google search is all that is required to find references for its effectiveness for
-multiple mycoplasma species
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10824029/-chlamydia
-toxoplasmosis
-lyme disease itself
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/pmc4827596/-others i have not checked
it is actually a broad spectrum antibiotic with activity across a wide range of bacteria - but its use is somewhat limited in clinical practice - where it is often not the preferred 1st line treatment for two main reasons
1- high cost compared to other first line abx
2 - documented fourfold risk increase of causing C-Diff
(perhaps this preferred use case has been a cause of confusion )
i only post as in the hope that it might help avoid people avoid a false diagnosis based on misunderstanding of the drugs specificity and and thereby avoid the wasted time and money on a less than ideal treatment direction.
