i have done a little reading into Chlamydia Pn WBF
its an odd one - not a straightforward organism at all
- has the largest genome of any bacteria so far discovered (apart from borrelia that is)
- little things with big genomes usually are using them to do something unusual / complex
- this bug has a multi-stage lifecycle ( probably what that extra genetic material is for)
- making it v hard to treat with abx
- intracellular - so all the usual things apply with protected niches in the body etc etc
- typically community acquired - but possible from other sources
- linked to people with asthma and type 1 diabetes - also linked to MS and other odd auto-immune diseases
found this site very interesting - this guy, a well educated UK pathologist if i recall correctly, set about
treating his wife based on his own research into the subject Chlamydia infection - combination of tetracyclines, macrolides and pulses of flagy i think - it worked but took 18months or more i think
he includes explanations of his findings and references
