It's just that keto is expensive. If I ditch gluten, I'll have to eat very little and probably have issues with satiety. However, I'll try it.
i would definitely look into it - there are a lot of myths in the common culture about
it - many just don't apply if its done right -
1, keto need not be expensive -
as an example - my food bill went up only 10-15% when i made the change and that was buying only grass fed pasture raised meat and organic vegetables - which account for most of the cost increase.
Processed foods are cheap to produce but expensive to buy calorie for calorie.
i saved more than the difference in less supplements trying to calm my gut down
my quality of life change was well worth the £7 per week difference in any case
2, protein is the major driver of satiety in humans - when you make the change to mostly fat and protein in your diet you will find its not an issue. i don't get hungry between meals now at all - whereas i used to get the shakes if i did not eat each 4hrs. after a lifetime of eating lots of carbs cravings for sugar etc are separate but manageable and easier over time
3, keto is not synonymous with weight loss - i am gaining weight an strength now on strick keto. in fact bodybuilders in the 60's were using it to get results before the carb based sports nutrition theories gained dominance. you can be as lean or as bulky as you like on Keto - mainly by eating higher intake of healthy fats - just as with a carb based diet you would largely eat more carbs to gain weight. its juts an alternative energy source we are already designed to use.
i do understand the reluctance - i was resistant to the idea too - till i saw my partner go running within a week of making the change - it was amazing and undeniable at that stage
