Hi all,
So my sister started with the new doctor. He actually believes that a lot of her pain issues stem from limbic dysfunction combining with immune issues brought on by the infection. He believes that her going through a neural retraining program over the course of a number of months represents the way forward, prior to doing things with more drugs or immunotherapies.
This limbic stuff is very interesting. Of note is that she has struggled with depression and trauma for the majority of her life, before she got infected. It does seem as though there’s a really good chance that this is a major piece of the puzzle that we’ve been missing.
Frustratingly, she seems skeptical of this and is unsure whether she’ll commit to it. To me, it’s not even a question that it’s worth giving this the old college try. Frankly, I think she’s stuck in a rut.
What are your thoughts on this? Thanks.
