Anyone heard of this? Ever tried it?

As we have seen in the past that we weren’t very effective with apheresis in treating Lyme disease we now offer external hemoperfusion with hyperthermia and oxygenation This is a very complex procedure for which a physician puts catheters into the veins of both groins to which an external system is attached through which the blood flows and gets heated up to 41.7 degree for 4 hours in anesthesia while the interposed oxygenator generates oxygen levels of up to 650 mm Hg. As Borrelia a very sensitive to heat and oxgen we are very effective in killing Borrelia with this procedure that mostly has to be applied twice. Additionally we us special adsorbers (filters), with which we can detoxify the blood from inflammatory cytokines that cause most of the symptoms.

i very much doubt this will provide more than temporary symptom relief for peple with lyme

the reason is many studies including human autopsies have shown that borrelia are mostly concentrated in dispersed micro colonies inside the tissues and organs - with very few organisms in the blood ( this is also demonstrated by the studies showing relatively poor sensitivity by pcr of blood even in borrelia culture positive patients).

therefore even if you could somehow remove all of the blood and 100% clean it of borrelia and toxins - then put it back in you may have some temporary symptom releif from toxin removal - but would have done nothing for the majority of the organisms in the tissues and the patient would be as infected as before the treatment.

so in my opinion "treating" in this manner makes little sense if one considers the fundamental biology of borrelia infections.

That's what I was thinking but I might be the best (fastest) way to detox and make it easier to treat more aggressively.
It also depends on how fast the toxins come back. If it takes half a year (maybe too optimistic) it might be worth it.
