Ceftin/cefuroxime experience?

My doctor is switching me to a Ceftin/azithromycin/malarone combo. Does anyone have any experience with Ceftin and did it improve your symptoms? This is my first time on a penicillin so im hoping it helps

Ceftin was pretty tame in my experience, vs something like Flagil. But were all a little different in how we react to these.

I was switched from omnicef to ceftin. It felt pretty similar. Maybe less effective, probably the same.

I took it in several combinations with other ABX's, which worked (didn't use your combination though).

My LLMD never Rx'd one ABX alone, so its kinda hard to tell with more mello ABX's when used with other more powerful ones. (Flagil as an example, is very powerful deep driving, nasty ABX).

I dont remember the working mechanism behind how Ceftin works.

This was a very experienced LLMD who would not be using meds that didn't do something.

its a cephalosporin type antibiotic

they are Beta-lactam group antibiotics - work by inhibiting the cell wall proteins synthesis of bacteria

demonstrated effective for lyme in trials - broadly equivalent to doxy - and sometimes preferred

I’ve been on the Ceftin for a few years.

It’s one of my core abx.

Was on it with Mepron and Mino for Babesia.

Then I was on it with Rifabutin, mino, Dapsone, Daraprim, Clindamycin

No problems with it.

Hi bro123,

I'm still treating but yes it's an effective antibiotic.
I use it to kill the "free flowing" spirochetes after breaking down the biofilms with lumbrokinase.
It feels similar to doxycycline but more effective (for me).
It's very easy to tolerate.

In terms of improvements it's part of my protocol so I don't know at what point it kicked in, but I'm making some progress, which, although slow, I'm happy about.

Well I’m always taking other abx with the Ceftin - so it’s difficult to know how effective it is.
I was on it with my previous LLND 6 or 7 years ago as well.

My symptom abatement has mostly been a gradual, slow lessening of symptoms until it is gone. (Except for the last few stubborn ones)
Not - “wow I feel so much better after taking X/YZ”

Don't use cefuroxime alone, use cefuroxime with clavulanic acid.
Clavulanic acid blocks the antibiotic blocking of the bacteria.

While I haven’t ever taken the Ceftin with clavulanic acid - I’ve always taken it with other abx though.
Maybe that works?

Augmentin is Amoxy plus clavulanic acid - in one pill - apparently it is supposed to be more effective.
