Frustration maxing out here.
As people know I have severe neuropathy. Diet was helping, but it has gone ballistic for the past 3m after taking plaquenil and antimicrobials.
Well I was reading on Reddit and I came across a post by a man who was claiming to be making miraculous results with ARA-290 for his neurological symptoms. It's a small peptide being explored for neuro-inflammation and neuropathy. You can order it online "for research purposes".
Well last week after reading this post I remembered my experiment with it briefly in 2021 (see Note 2), and decided to give it a go again. I ordered it from Peptide Sciences and it arrived Friday. I went to Quest and got a baseline metabolic panel done Friday (see Note 1). I was in so much pain at the Quest Diagnostics I was literally shaking. I got home around 2pm and injected it into myself.
By 4pm that day the electricity in my feet had stopped. By the time I had gone to bed i felt significantly better.
I woke up yesterday feeling great. I could put my feet on the floor without wincing in pain. The pruning on the fingers was gone. No sweating dysfunction. At 9am I injected another 4mg.
I was ecstatic. This thing really f'ing works.
And then wham. The enthesitis started around 12pm yesterday. Quite badly. Been forced to take prednisone bendaryl and nasalcrom and its still there. I get some sort of MCAS or inflammatory reaction which I've been detailing on HW, and it ONLY happens when I take certain supplements. It appears that ARA is one of the triggers.
This is like some sort of cruel joke. I want to put my fist through a window. I'm so aggravated right now. After all these years of trying things, to find something that really helps, and to not be able to use it is beyond frustration.
But I figured maybe others could benefit from this info. On top of being great for neuropathic pain, it is shown to significantly reduce blood glucose and cholestrol numbers. I've seen it speculated it may work in chronic fatigue as well, as it shares a lot of the same neuro-inflammation characteristics of SFN.
Note 1: In early 2021 I tried this same peptide for 8 or 9 days. I remember thinking at the time that it was really helping big time, and I may have posted on HW about
it. But then I randomly noticed my creatinine had spiked to 1.35. Since it's a synthetic form of EPO, which can affect kidneys, I got nervous and stopped. I did find in the literature one other case of someone's creatinine rising on ARA. I planned to monitor this and that's why I got a baseline before I started.
Note 2: It's only day 3 today, and I've gotten excited about
improvements before only to have it be placebo, or the thing stop working. But this feels different. My feet have been an electrical outlet for months, and it was gone in hours. I dont think it's placebo. I thought about
waiting to make this post until I confirm it is what I think it is, but it looks like I may not be able to use it going forward, and wanted to get this off my chest.
