The TBRF and Miyamotoi slipped my mine with you. It seems it is more related to fever, though. That's why I was wondering about the pain. More joints than muscle? I think both can cause muscle pain.
i think one of the problems with TBRF is they are a recent discovered group of diverse pathogens and as a result are v little studied and so not a great deal is known about
them.
as a result - although they are known to cause relapsing fevers - especially in the early stages in some - they are also thought - like lyme to present with a wide array of symptoms - and may be indistinguishable from more typical lyme disease symptoms.
it may well be that - just as in the beginning - lyme was thought to present with headache, fever and swollen knees - we now know that is a kind of cartoon caricature of the possible symptoms - and much more broad and nuanced pattern of symptoms may present - with widely different severity from person to person.
i had an infectious disease specialist - apparently one of the best in the country - tell me i couldn't have lyme because my knees were not swollen enough - my esr and crp were low - and if i did have lyme i would be much more sick - none of these statements were supported by the scientific literature even at that time - but this was the cartoon picture of lyme they had in their head.
recently the World heath organisation has released a further 11 diagnostic codes for various symptom patterns of lyme disease - in acknowledgement of the broad presentations possible.
so it seems highly likely to me that TBRF group organisms being another similar spirochete and will therefore be similar in this respect.
as far as i know the same treatment protocols apply as for lyme though - so it may not matter much which you spirochete species you have if you are in any case following a treatment approach for lyme.
