My son sent me this message today:

“ Quebec today announced they are opening up 15 Chronic COVID and Chronic Lyme clinics
Similarities between the two, first time in Canada anyone has formally identified chronic lyme“

It doesn’t help us who live on the west coast but it’s a start - maybe BC will recognize it!

As we all know, it's too bad seems to be a money grab here or doctors are put in tough positions to treat.

I've learned even when someone is finally diagnosed with Lyme, there is not enough information provided by doctors to let someone know the problems that could follow it if not treated to full extent. I've learned by having it drag out for years and years, other problems I never considered can come into play, such as the Epstein Barr Virus. Then EBV can lead to autoimmune or, which can lead to nasopharyngeal cancer. Then there is the myriad of other co-infections.

In my experience, doctors downplayed EBV for years until I finally started pushing questions about it. Two said it's normal to get EBV and not to worry. Hopefully, the clinics up there will be on top of things and really help people. That would be so great to see.

Quebec will open 15 clinics specialized in long-COVID and Lyme disease across the province, health minister Christian Dubé announced


The network, to be coordinated by the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), is to include five referral centres and 10 satellite clinics.

Announced as a pilot project in this year’s provincial budget, the clinics are to open in the coming months and remain open for three years, at which point the pilot project will be reviewed and the services adjusted according to needs, Dubé said.

Unfortunately it’s far away for me.
As it is I fly across Canada to go to DrJ

I’d be doing the same to go to one of these clinics.

But I do think I’m likely in remission now anyway.

Glad you are in remission and seem to have been that way for a while. 20+ years, and I can't seem to find it. But, there is always hope when stories like yours are out there. Same for astroman and some others. Good minds are opening up enough to even get the clinics open.

Yeah I was wondering what kind of treatment options the clinics would be open to - i.e., if they will be open to believing the symptoms are real, but continue with the traditional medicine paradigm of "we don't know what's going on but 'science' says it's not persistent infection" and sending people through endless and fruitless loops of seeing rheumatologists, neurologists, etc. for individual symptoms. Or if they might actually be open to intensive, long-term anti-infective treatment. But my gut says, they probably won't be open to providing a treatment that a regular LLMD does, at least not off the bat.
