Every day I get one on me. I have swelling from their bites back and front. I live in a woodsy spot and walk around a little each day. I cover my arms and legs, but somehow they get on me. I do check my body everyday. The poor deer's ears around here are covered with them. I have never seen infestation this bad in many years. Now I have a possible chest infection with a burning cough and low fever. I have a week supply of Doxycycline here after I told my Doc about my bites. I lived here for many years, and never was this bad. Is there a lyme disease blood test I can tell my doctor to give me? I have an appointment this Tuesday. Another question I have is, even though I have been taking the ticks off soon after they bite, can I still get Lyme disease? Most of them have been very small ones and with no bulls-eye rash yet though. Help!

Not everyone gets a bullseye rash.
You were bit - and you have symptoms.
Treat with abx - make sure you take the appropriate dose and for long enough.

From the Burrascano Lyme treatment guidelines:

“ PROPHYLAXIS of high risk groups- education and preventive measures. Antibiotics are not given.


TICK BITES - Embedded Deer Tick With No Signs or Symptoms of Lyme (see appendix):
Decide to treat based on the type of tick, whether it came from an endemic area, how it was removed,
and length of attachment (anecdotally, as little as four hours of attachment can transmit pathogens). The risk of transmission is greater if the tick is engorged, or of it was removed improperly allowing the tick's contents to spill into the bite wound. High-risk bites are treated as follows (remember the possibility of co-infection!):

1) Adults: Oral therapy for 28 days.
2) Pregnancy: Amoxicillin 1000 mg q6h for 6 weeks. Test for Babesia, Bartonella and Ehrlichia.
Alternative: Cefuroxime axetil 1000 mg q12h for 6 weeks. 3) Young Children: Oral therapy for 28 days.


EARLY LOCALIZED - Single erythema migrans with no constitutional symptoms:
1) Adults: oral therapy- must continue until symptom and sign free for at least one month,
with a 6 week minimum.


6 weeks minimum.

And don't forget to take your daily probiotics with those antibiotics!
What was the name again of that herb recommended by Buhner for fresh insect bites?

Definitely keep an eye on the bite sites. The rash could develop later.
