the problem with Lyme and tick borne infections in general is that they tend to have variable symptom patterns - somewhat different in every person
its also very difficult for people here to give meaningful input on this because, despite your best efforts to tell us, we have so little of your full story - compared to for instance the 2-3hrs first interview with with good LLMD
But, i think you are right given your exposure risk to have it in the differential diagnosis list
the facial palsy and numbness is consistent with lyme - especially in the early stages / first few months
complete left side numbness less so
lyme does cause radiculitis which typically results in partial paralysis of the limb effected - or face in the case of the cranial nerves - but a complete left side numbness would be atypical
more often there is considerable pain associated with these radiculitis type problems - my partner at the time had it in one arm and then the other - the pain was so severe that she could not sleep at all for several nights at a time despite pain killers.
numbness in extremities can be a result of neuropathy from diabetes - but less so complete paralysis of a limb or side. so that seems less likely to me - but i would address the pre-diabetes in any case as that is something that can and will ruin your quality of life in the years to come if not addressed property with diet and lifestyle now.
other very Lyme like symptoms that are more differential than most are
migrating pain of any sort
like a sprain or unexplained pain in a joint here for a few days and then somewhere else a few days later
any shooting, stabbing, burning pains that seem to come and go
less specific ones
most commonly reported symptoms in chronic lyme from studies of groups of patients are
-fatigue
-myalgia
-headaches
-sleep problems
but these are all non-specific to lyme and while most people with lyme do report these - some people with lyme may not have all of them
and if you are pre-diabetic you may have some health issues driving these typic of symptoms already and muddy the waters somewhat also
another option to consider is this questionnaire by a leading Lyme doctor - it sets a threshold above which it considers lyme is likely

testing is far from perfect but can help you understand the likely hood Lyme better
Igenex is highly regarded by most LLMD's in the USA and Armin Labs in Europe
