I really don’t like the ERMI score. I think it’s useless. The ERMI score is Group I total minus Group 2 total. Group 2 is still mold, so subtracting it out like it doesn’t matter makes no sense. The way it’s calculated, you could have a heck of a lot of mold and still have a low ERMI score.
Somewhere in the past, I came across a statement where Shoemaker said that OSHA said a total score (Group I plus Group 2) of 30 or more was cause for concern. I would pay more attention to the HERTSMI score and the total of
Group I plus Group 2. If Group I is really low and Group 2 is really high, then look for the reason - like lots of plants.
