Happy Thanksgiving (turkey) day all

Usually someone else puts that up there it’s always someone different, guess it’s me this year.

I was trying to figure out what other countries celebrate this day on the same day. Then google got complicated. I’ll leave it at that lol.

Turkey is the only meat that, yes this is almost hard to believe, I have an immune reaction to. So I will be having a thick ham slice tonight and some local native duck tomorrow night, with of course, some local wild rice.

At least I get to go eat with some extended family and don’t have to drive far. After snow in a cold spell we’re having kind of a warm spell almost normal temperatures and the sun might come out this afternoon I haven’t seen that in quite a while.

I used to love Thanksgiving when I was a kid. As time goes on and people pass, I keep on reminiscing of years past, I really miss them. That said, if you’re still above ground and able to do things you enjoy on occasion, with shelter and food, well,..... that’s something to be thankful for. We really forget about the basics in this modern age. (Yeah I’m not the only one who wouldn’t mind a time machine lol. )

For those here that are unable to do things, remember you will be able to someday. I hope there’s something you can do to enjoy the day maybe there’s something on that post list of holiday music and movies.

Happy Thanksgiving, Astroman and all our other friends -- whether in the U.S. or elsewhere. Today and always, I'm thankful for this forum and everyone on it.

That's too bad about your immune reaction to turkey, Astro. However, the ham, local native duck, and wild rice also sound great.

On this end, a friend made a turkey dinner and generously brought food over here and we sat on the back patio and enjoyed it together. Thankfully, I still have some leftovers, so I can continue the gastronomic assault later tonight or tomorrow. I also have a pint of ice cream on standby, in case I'm not feeling miserable enough.

As for the holidays changing over time, I can relate. I still like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve/Day, but they're not the same as they used to be. I also do a lot of reminiscing of years past and how things seemed much less complicated and more enjoyable. I'm not sure if that's really true, or if some feelings simply fade over time while others are amplified. But, it seems like things were better back then. As soon as I can repair this Flux Capacitor, we'll go back in time and see. Pack some quarters for the arcade.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!🦃. It’s nighttime here, so it’s almost over. Fixing to eat my leftovers for supper. I enjoyed being with family today. Even though most of my family is here, I only see them once or twice a year.

Thanksgiving was always my favorite as a kid, too. My aunts, uncles, and cousins would all come to my grandparents house. There were 8 adults and 7 kids in a small, 2 bed, 1 bath house, but we didn’t care. We never noticed that it was too many people for too small a house.

They had a front porch and a small room where the kids could sit at a card table. We would eat as much as we could and play outside until dark. The best memories of my life. Makes me feel lonesome for those times and relatives who are gone.

Thankful for all of you and for this forum that got me through some very scary times. Blessings to you all!🙏
