I found bartonella resistant to azithromycin (and clarithromycin). It was still somewhat effective if combined with other drugs (particularly atovaquone) but by itself not effective.
People here have reported bartonella to be susceptible to minocycline more often than not. It seems less likely to be resistant to this than some other common antibiotics. One major side effect of minocycline is its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. This seemed to make me more susceptible to viral infections and slowed down the rate at which my immune system cleared out the dead bacteria, so be aware of this risk if you try minocycline.
As you are aware, bactrim has risk of folate deficiency, impaired renal function, and adrenal insufficiency. It's often effective against bartonella, if you can tolerate it.
I've had adrenal fatigue for like 20 years and am just learning how to fix the issue little by little. Dr. Berg helped me the most. My llmd didn't even mention adrenal fatigue and bactrim which sucked because I was really aiming for minocycline due to being anti-inflammatory effects and better reaching the bbb. Is it normal to feel fatigue on bactrim or a herx?
