Where did that thread go....? Mods?

yesterday a new user came on - they posted a long thread with a great deal of detail about their test Igenex results for lyme and co - together with details of their outdoor lifestyle and the type of symptoms they are experiencing - and then asked a number of questions -

in total they must have written about 2 or 3 sides of A4 of text

i tried to help by answering the main 4 questions they asked

but the thread is no longer visible

what happened ?

if the user deleted their own post themselves - would that delete the whole thread ?

if not - then does this mean that some random moderator or owner has deleted the entire thread ?

if the latter i imagine it will be disappointing for the new member - who put a lot of effort into their post - only for it to vanish

By the way I remember which one you are referring to, it was called "need advice with igenex results."

Garzie, I don't think I saw the thread you mentioned. Was it a new thread? Or, a new user replying to one that was already established? A non-moderator can only delete their own comments. If they started a new thread and there were no replies to it, then deleting their comment, of course, would delete the thread.

I did see the one RainyCloud mentioned. In this case, it was an established thread that a new user bumped by replying to it and asking about where to buy a Spooky2. I found the link in my browser history: https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=4278091&p=2. As you can see, the thread still exists, only the recent comment that had bumped the post to the top is now missing. It was right after the post by user "wavepruner" on Page 2.

when i last saw the Igenex one - it had only the OP's v long post - and my reply

there could have been others after mine - but i don't think it survived for long as when i came back later in the day i don't recall seeing it

but since there was at least i reply - it cannot have been the OP deleting it

v frustrating - the OP must have put hours into their first post - and i think my reply probably took close to an hour

Yeah I remember Garzie's reply to that post.

It started with Garzie saying "It's a lot but I'll try to help where I can". Followed by Garzie answering bullet points of questions.

There was also a new user with the handle "MihaiRo1" that has also been deleted. This one was a young male from somewhere outside the U.S. that asked if Lyme could cause pelvic floor dysfunction. My browser history shows his user profile was previously at https://www.healingwell.com/community/profile.aspx?f=30&m=4312450&p=293478, but has since been deleted. I believe that was their first and only post, too.

Long ago (in a galaxy...), I remember having an issue with my HealingWell account being locked and not allowing me to log in. I ended up getting the assistance of a moderator, via e-mail, who I think had to e-mail Peter (the site's owner and administrator) for help.

If my memory is correct, the issue was related to the e-mail address I was using. At the time, I don't think the protonmail.com domain was on the whitelist for new accounts. So, I believe Peter had to add it, so new user accounts could register using that e-mail domain. This was part of his attempt to reduce the number of fake/spam accounts being created.

So, if these new accounts we're discussing registered with an e-mail account that's not a gmail.com, protonmail.com, yahoo.com, or other popular domain, I wonder if some automatic process flagged and deleted the users? I doubt Peter would have been awake at that hour and I don't see (our) moderators deleting them.

This is just a theory.

I did delete some threads -but they were duplicates started by a member named Wanda.

I created a thread with one post.

Then I deleted the post and the thread disappeared

Does my mod status affect it?

just as a test then:
1, let me create a test thread -
2, then someone please add a post to it
3, i will then delete the first post and we can see what happens (ie does the whole thread disappear - or just the deleted 1st post )

I think Peter would probably be the best one to ask, as he's the Keymaster of Gozer.

After glancing through all this I’m gonna ask the odd question here, ...Are you sure the op didn’t delete his thread.?

If most people write a long thread they want to know results and they’re gonna look at it sooner than two days I would think?

As far as I can tell the OP Has not reappeared on the forum.
