I did this years ago. The only person here I remember I actually knew something about this test was KO, they have not been here in years.
Just understand that you can have Lyme related cognitive disabilities and still not have Lyme bacteria in your actual brain.
The term “Lyme brain” is really just slang jargon very few people have Lyme actually in their brains, when that does happen though as rare is it is ,....it can be pretty bad.
not sure about
that Astro
from the studies i have read - lyme is remarkable for reaching the brain within hours of infection
what is perhaps more pertinent though is how much damage it does there - which seems to be a largely separate phenomenon to just its presence.
lots of factors seem to come into play in the space between presence and degree of pathology - for example
-numbers of spirochetes in the tissue
-pathogenicity of the strain involved ( eg B. Garinii is know for more CNS symptoms )
-host immune response ( most damage in most infectious disease is due to the host inflammatory response more than the pathogen itself )
- any secondary auto-immunity to brain tissue caused by the infection ( i think this is sometimes seen in chronic bacterial infections - including Lyme. PANDAS etc )
to the OP's question - i do not know if the test concerned is flagging actual loss of volume - or more just lower levels of activity in the tissue - eg from microcirculation issues - the latter is likely to be much more reversible -
that is something it might be worth clarifying with the Dr

I had this test, and it was surprisingly negative. Although it was pretty clear with my symptoms that i had what we describe as lyme brain around here. It’s a volume test so it’s not gonna pick up minor Bacteria intrusion.
I went to a lyme literate psychologist / psychiatrist? ....and had of their version of a lyme test which is 1-1/2 days long. it’s been mentioned here in the past It used to be a thing for a while. I failed miserably.
My most worst cognitive decline was at the end of my antibiotic use while I also had a difficult candida infection.
Where i live Is where some of the MS brains were autopsied and found damage from Lyme bacteria, actually mostly nematodes that come along for the ride. This is Dr. Greer of the University of Minnesota Duluth ,he was Alan McDonald’s partner when they did all that MS brain testing. The damage they found was quite severe and would show up on imaging. Of course this is from people who died from it but their medical record said MS. And these were from the upper Midwest United States which is just as bad as the Lyme Connecticut area.
