Dr. Stryker originally use this and treating lyme as a way of showing immune system healing but it doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes peoples immune cells go down and never come back up to what is said to be normal levels, but this measures volume or amount of levels. It does not measure the strength which is different and you cannot measure that.
But……The CD 57 test does have some significance. people who say it is not accurate do not know what they’re talking about
.
Why they say it’s not accurate is : because it is an average of several immune cells- I think it was T cells and natural killer cells. Those are a form of white blood cells, you’re immune defense.
There are many types of immune cells under the white blood cells. So I would not say the CD 57 is not accurate however, it certainly isn’t very specific since it measures a group of averages.
What is your white blood cell count?
Google types of white blood cells, and you’ll see many types. Most importantly would be monocytes, and then lymphocytes, which are T cells and B cells. If those are low, it might be good to check Immunoglobulin levels as well. There are also four different immunoglobulins.
If anyone is going to use this test, it does not necessarily mean they have an active infection. It just means that they are low but it’s hard to tell if they’re ever normal at one time. That said, it could also mean you still have an infection.

I mysteriously still have some low immune cells. Even though Lyme seems to be mostly gone, for about
seven years now. This is also Not uncommon with autoimmune conditions. In a nutshell, It’s really not very well understood.
